My daughters purchased my Hoshi from Royalty Akitas on December 2016. The transaction was conducted without my knowledge since Hoshi was a surprise Christmas present for me. Don (the owner) told my daughters that Hoshi was a “premium dog” and for that reason, he demanded $2000.00 plus an additional $350.00 fee for airfare delivery. Don posted a few old pictures of Hoshi on his site; the puppy seemed extremely young (maybe 2 weeks old) and for that reason my daughters kept asking him (nearly every day) to send updated pictures during the two weeks of negotiations but he always had an excuse and never fulfilled their request. Long story short, the airlines were booked due to the holidays and the delivery arrangement changed. Don had some of his assistants meet me and other puppy buyers in Bakersfield which is two hours away from Lincoln but four hours distance from me and six or more hours away from their other puppy buyers in San Diego. Even though Hoshi was not delivered via an airline, the airfare charge was never reimbursed to us. When I saw the puppy I immediately noticed something abnormal with his coat. We have had Akitas for the last 17 years and this puppy looked like he had a VERY heavy and extra dense coat. When I asked the ladies delivering the puppies about this they became very nervous and called Don with my observation/concern. His response was that it was just puppy hair and it will be changing over the next few weeks. I have never had a long hair Akita prior to Hoshi but I know that they are sold at a VERY reduced price as the AKC does not allow them to be show dogs. Anyway, I took my new baby home and immediately fell in love with him. I went back to the Royalty Akita website a few weeks after the delivery and noticed that Don still had pictures of Hoshi’s mom and dad on his site. I immediately noticed that their names did not match the registration papers given to me by Don and his team! This finding and the fact that he sold us a long hair Akita puppy for a premium fee as well as not reimbursing the airline charges back to us makes him in our opinion a very disgusting dishonest person. Just like the other complaints here, I would not dream of ever giving my Hoshi back because I love him very much. However, I believe every story posted here and I have a strong feeling that this man is taking advantage of these beautiful and majestic animals for his own perverse financial gain. I wish there was a way to stop him!
