Beware: Royalty Akita and Fraud

I have owned Akitas since the 1980’s having purchased them from reputable breeders, and I have never had any issues until my dealings with Royalty Akitas. Mr. Van Dermyden and I agreed upon my purchasing of Kingston, a puppy from the litter of Titan and Misty August 28, 2016. Two payments were made through PayPal for a total of $2000, with a discount if I purchased the puppy immediately. After numerous emails, phone conversations I was assured of the puppy, But as the date approached to pick up the puppy, Mr. Van Dermyden began not responding. Finally, in a phone (9/18/2016) conversation, Mr. Van Dermyden expressed his reluctance to sell me the puppy we agreed upon. He then agreed to refund my money, as I stated that I did not want any other puppy. Later that day, he stated in an email (9/18/2016) that he would sell me the original male puppy. However, he continued to email me photos of other puppies, from other litters. In the following months I attempted numerous times through email and telephone, to determine the date to pick up the puppy. He led me to believe through his emails, that after their health check and treatment, the puppy would be ready to go. I remained hopeful but realized that Mr. Van Dermyden had most likely sold the puppy to someone else. I then sent an email that requested a date to pick up my puppy or a refund or I would be forced to explore legal options (11/14/2016), to which he responded he would call as soon as possible. I have not heard from him since. I then filed a claim against him in an attempt to get my money back. He never showed up, and a judgement was entered against him on 2/03/2017 case # 16SC-0339 in the Superior Court of San Luis Obispo County. I have posted my review on Yelp and Puppy Finder etc. but the reviews do not seem to stay up. I have also heard from other people expressing very similar, disheartening experiences. I would not want anyone to go through what I have been through. I hope that this will help people realize that this man is nothing less than a criminal committing fraud.
